Ebeneezer

The gifts have been wrapped, the cards have been sent
The mass has been heard, bygone's we've let
Forgiveness we've asked for the sins from our birth
We've prayed for abundance and peace on this earth

The lights have shone brightly on trees still adorned
With angels and tinsel from yuletides before
Wreaths evergreen, the lone mistletoe
Silver and gold and men made of snow

Food ever so glorious dressed our banquet tables
We've feasted and dined til we're no longer able
We've shared hearty laughter with friends so dear
For those we have missed we've shed so much tears

Merry Christmas to all! Such words you've been told
From kind-hearted strangers, from young ones and old
From jolly fat men garbed in crimson and white
On a sleigh pulled by reindeers who know how to fly

Oh such a wonderful time, Christmas was!
What joy to have been caught in that holiday rush!
Making lists and then checking them twice
Then off to the market to haggle the price

I know that the season hasn't yet come to pass
The things I've been saying are from memories past
Of Christmases spent with people who cared
Sad to say, in the now, they're no longer there

Silent and holy, the night in my mind
The calmness is burning the passage of time
Be merry this season, wish me merry as well
Forget not to visit if you've found happiness to sell.
