See her as she flutters by
Catch your breath, heave a sigh
Happiness before your eyes
On your shoulder she'll alight
A moment of such pure delight
Entrancing in the subtle light
Fall in love at her very sight
Charmed you are, o mortal man
If near your being she does stand
Fortune great to one whose hand
Is worthy of her presence grand
Be not too eager, nor be too proud
Unless you wish your head be bowed
This butterfly from heaven's cloud
On freedom's altar she has vowed
Lovely little butterfly
Rejoice for you have caught her eye
On colored wings she now takes flight
Away, away, beyond your sight
